# Step 3 - Ring Setup

1. **Registration and Login**\
   First-time users must register an account. Click **Register** to be redirected to the web registration page.\
   \ <mark style="background-color:green;">After registration, please check your email and click the verification link to activate your account. Without completing this step, you may be able to log in, but the account will not function properly.</mark>

   After registration, return to the software login page and sign in using your account and password.\
   It is recommended to select **“Remember me”** to enable automatic login the next time the software is opened.<br>

2. **Quick Start**\
   After logging in, use Quick Start to begin the setup process.\
   Please complete the following steps in order:\

   Select the ring model

   Select the ring mode\
   Mode description:\
   **113HR (600s/p) mode** records one location point every 600 seconds and supports up to 113 hours of recording.

   Once completed, check whether the cradle status at the top of the screen displays a port number (for example, **COM3**). If the port number is shown, click **Set** to proceed.

   * On **Windows**, the port is displayed as **COM3** (the number may vary depending on the device).
   * On **macOS**, the port is displayed as **/dev/cu.PL2303-USBtoUART110** (the last digits may vary depending on the device).

   If you are using **Mode 2** or **Mode 4U**, please download the reader driver from the **Q\&A – Operating** page.

3. **During Setup**\
   If the setup progress appears to stop, please observe the indicator light on the cradle.\
   A rapidly flashing light indicates that the ring is being read normally.

4. **After Setup**\
   Once the setup is complete, successfully configured rings will appear in the list on the right.\
   Click **Edit** to assign a band number or nickname to the ring.\
   (This can also be done later by opening the activity from the activity list and editing the band number and loft information.)<br>

   To add additional rings or bind Ring ID to this activity, go to the **Activity List** page.\
   Under the **Ongoing** tab, locate the activity and click View Details on the right to open.

   On the activity detail page, use **Edit Activity** to modify the activity information.\
   You may also click **Ring Management** in the lower-right corner to open the **Add Rings** tab and add more rings.

   To bind a band number or add loft information, click **Edit** in the ring list.<br>

   After entering the information, click **Done or Finish** to complete the update.
